Projects rated by LEED points

Through the U.S. Green Building Council, projects can be LEED certified. The projects earn LEED points for various green initiatives ranging from sustainable site development to having bike racks, parking spaces for carpoolers, and energy efficient heating systems. Building products manufactured from recycled materials can contribute towards the total recycled content of all building materials which earn points towards LEED certification. This makes National Gypsum’s byproduct gypsum wallboard particularly attractive.

LEED certified buildings:

  • Lower operating costs and increase asset value;
  • Reduce waste sent to landfills;
  • Conserve energy and water;
  • Improve indoor air quality;
  • Provide healthier and safer space for occupants;
  • Reduce greenhouse gases;
  • Qualify for incentives in some locations;
  • Demonstrate the owner’s commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

There are four levels of LEED certification:

  • Certified requires 26 – 32 LEED points
  • Silver – 33-38 points
  • Gold – 39-51 points
  • Platinum – 52-69 points

LEED standards include:

  • NC – New commercial construction and major renovation projects
  • EB – Existing building operations

  • CS – Core and shell projects
